Meet Our Principal, Mr. Joseph Poletti

Meet our distinguished Principal, a seasoned educational professional with an impressive 37-year career dedicated to shaping young minds and fostering excellence in education. His diverse roles within the field have included serving as a classroom teacher, instructional technology facilitator, state department consultant, university program administrator, athletic director, central services director, and school administrator. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role.

With a commitment to lifelong learning, he has earned four college degrees, including a BS in Secondary Education from Appalachian State University, an MA in Rhetoric from Catholic University of America, a CAS in Library Science from East Carolina University, and an MSA in Educational Leadership, also from East Carolina University.

His dedication to education extends beyond the classroom, as he actively participates in various professional affiliations and community service networks. He has received both local and statewide recognitions for his contributions to the field of education.

In his role as Principal, he has overseen four schools within Carteret County Public Schools, including three traditional public high schools and one early college. Additionally, he has served as an assistant principal at various schools and held positions such as Director of Media and Technology and Carteret County Schools Athletic Director. His involvement in education also extends to advisory roles, including the North Carolina Virtual Public School and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, where he served for six years, one of them as president.

Outside of his professional life, he has deep roots in the Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Egbert Catholic Church in Morehead City, where he served as a lector and a church musician. His commitment to educational excellence extends to the Lewis Award Committee, where he recognizes and celebrates educational excellence in the schools of the Diocese of Raleigh.

With his extensive experience, passion for education, and strong ties to the community, our Principal is a dedicated leader who continually strives to create a nurturing and enriching educational environment for all students.
